Now more than ever we need to talk to each other, to listen to each other and understand how we see the world, and cinema is the best medium for doing this.
— Martin Scorsese

The film is centered in Aberdeen, a small town on the west of Washington. Nothing too special about it, except their passion for high school sports and their tight nit community. It is this small, slice of life aspect of the story that makes it extend beyond the limits of evergreen trees, fresh air and the Pacific Northwest. This isn't Aberdeen's story, it's broader than that. It examines and comments on the lifestyle and community of suburban America.
